Go and See

Have you ever seen the waves at the horizon that look calm and discreet?

Have you seen that shadow boxer sparring under the tree?

Have you observed that boy running barefoot in the field?

If you have seen them, they are me. If not, go and see. 

For they carry fight, and fight is me. They carry life, and life is free. 

Have you seen the chicken broth boiling & simmering in the kitchen?

Have you seen that pup that died and then was eaten?

Have you seen a man wronged and then beaten?

If you have seen it, it is me. If not, go and see. 

For it carries pain, and pain is me. It is real, the only way to be. 

Have you ever seen that car on the highway far away?

Have you been to that home where you would rather stay?

Or an old man on the court still trying to play?

If you have, it is me. If not, go and see.

For it carries hope, and hope is me. A little staggered, because of a broken knee.
