My Heart

Finally, the birds fly away

Towards the Northern skies for their homes

All together, yet apart,

Whole; yet alone.

The winds carry messages and memories

On the travelling smoke lies our demons & struggles

What am I if I am not for another?

Who am I if I am not there for someone else’s struggle?

Toughen up the upper lip, tough soldier.

The waves shall pass us by, the lights will guide us home.

In this journey of ours’, I carry you: you are not alone.

Strip my layers and you will see,

I am you and you are me.

Won’t the lost letters reach the lost people?

Will we not see beyond the charade of the preachers?

Salvage the broken people with the broken bones & broken hearts

Searching for a beginning, a new dawn, a start.

The wails of a mother lost crying for her soldier son who never returns.

Lost in the hateful slogans of the hate mongers that do not have to face the guns

Listening; letting those that feel alone know that they are not.

That there are the mes’ in me that are never mine but theirs’

My completeness is in letting you feel that I care

To put a smile, to create a laugh, to tell a story, to understand a part.

We are all actors, but some just enjoy it.

We are all liars, that live our lives truthfully.

Wiping tears of those near, while also being there for those apart,

That is where I will be found, that is where lies my heart.
