The involuntary pursuit for that final lunge at the unknown

Thoughts, body & shrouds of soul sprayed all over the floor

The tapestry that is the unseen and undrawn masterpiece

The trials, tribulations, tears and defeats.

Broken days move forwards to meet and respawn into more brokenness

The journey of the serious acted in jest

A human yet inconsequential game of chess.

“Surrender? Never,” screams an ego holding on to straws,

Refusing to die out; giving in to being a pawn

When the crowds get thin and the legions dissappear

The mirror reflects a face close and the only thing that is near

“I understand. I have nothing to fear”.

Reckless abandonment is a played out trope, a hamster wheel that is always on the verge of breaking but never does

When will the trials, the smile, the words, the hunger be enough?

Ash to ash, dust to dust?

Same words written again with different rhymes and prose,

Immortality lies in kintsugi.

Pain is our new home.

Struggle is the new normal.

Burn out an escape for the faceless applause.

Refusal to pause.

The only truth was smiles and eyes,

A day attempted to understand and to alleviate the tides.

Now the skies are darkened, and the waves are unknown,

And we have forgotten which way was the shore.
